Real Wedding - Scarlet and Black

In early March, one of my favorite wedding planners team reached out to me to see if I was available to take on some day-of stationery. I’m always excited when I have the opportunity to take on a wedding. Day-of details are still super important and sometimes get pushed to the last minute, but I’m always up for a challenge.

The couple wanted to use their wedding colors to indicate guest dinner selections, which I think is a wonderful way to tackle this and tie it into their theme. (If I’m honest, I’m not really a fan of the stickers on place cards.) We selected the perfect shades of scarlet and ebony and I placed the paper order.

While the paper for the guest book sign and place cards was on order, I got to work creating the custom watercolor and calligraphy elements for their signature drink sign. For more on that process, you can read about it here.

We are still solidly in the Covid-era, which right now is manifesting in shipping delays. I work to account for those since I know the USPS is particularly slow right now. But even my cautious planning could not predict that UPS would also be slow. This wedding was scheduled for Friday and I wanted to ensure that I could connect with Christy beforehand to deliver the finished stationery. Wouldn’t you know it, the UPS truck arrived on Tuesday early afternoon. Talk about panic mode! I was ready for it though and was able to complete the guest book sign and all the place cards while still getting myself to bed at a decent hour.

Their Friday wedding came - the weather was beautiful. The couple were beautiful. The entire event was beautiful. And it was the debut of the Christine Kirby Studios signature drink signs
